Track construction began in November of 2014 and has steadily progressed since then. With the help of Peter from Bush Contracting the basic track was formed up over a few days.
The track is 595 meters long and is predominantly a heavy loam base with a significant clay percentage. The main straight is 140 meters long and is complimented by our signature high speed corner at the southern end.
There have been some delays around other construction on site due to local government requirements but these issues are being addressed.
May 2015
Avon River Kart Club Inc was formed and officially recognised by the State of Western Australia.
March 2016
Sea container with control tower installed. The 30 foot long observation deck on top of the container makes for a great elevated spectator position.
June 2016
The male/female toilet block has been installed and approved by the relevant authorities.
July 2016
Plans and appilcation for lighting towers submitted to the Shire of York for approval.
July 2016
Final approval for control tower, toilet block, light towers and canteen granted by local Shire.
We have had several days of testing for the track and have received some excellent feedback.
The general comments have been that the track is fast and easy on the tyres.
Opinion was that the corners at each end of the short straight needed to be slightly wider and this has been addressed.
Due to the heavy rainfall we have not been able to conduct any further test days due to the track being under water. We have now installed relief drains to remove the water and allow the track to dry out.
Please keep a watch on our facebook page for upcoming test days.
